The Lord your God is with you. . . . In his love he will no longer rebuke you, but will rejoice over you with singing. (Zeph. 3:17)
Twinkies were my favorite Hostess snack. I loved them, and sometimes I was tempted to sneak more than I was allowed. One evening, one of my brothers suddenly entered my room. I quickly stuffed the snack under my pillow, but it was too late. Soon my mom confronted me.
“Dale, I am concerned that you are not eating enough for your meals. Let’s see if we can figure that out and also fit in an extra Twinkie once in a while. You don’t want food in your bed.” Mom understood my struggle with food. She didn’t berate me, but lovingly forgave and encouraged me to make better health choices.
Christ loved us so much that he went to the cross so that all who trust in him are cleansed from sin. Where no sin exists, there is no rebuking. Rather, there is the joyous heart of our Creator who made us to be holy as he is holy. Romans 8:1– affirms, “There is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus, . . . has set you free from the law of sin and death.”
God understands all our struggles. Are you trying to hide anything from God? He is ready to forgive, not condemn you. Let go of sin’s hold and experience the joy of God’s rejoicing over you.
Surrender to the love that conquers condemnation and reveals God’s heart.
