His compassions never fail. They are new every morning; great is your faithfulness. (Lam. 3:22–23)

A SUNSET IS A SYMBOL of an ending; a sunrise is a symbol of a beginning. God specializes in new beginnings, and He faithfully creates one every morning. The rising of the sun signals new potential, new opportunities, and new hope. We sometimes struggle through a night, hoping and waiting for morning to come. We often drag our past along with us into the present, but God can make us new and give us a better and brighter future. Sunrises promise that what has been is not as important as what can be.

This morning the sun rose as God’s gift to you, and with it He brought new expressions of His compassion and faithfulness. If you need a new beginning, it can be yours today. What you have been can be left in its predawn darkness, and you can walk into the light of God’s love and compassion. What you have experienced can melt away in the warmth of the new day.

The Son, the grand expression of God’s love, has risen with new life for you. Pull back the curtains and let the Son shine in.

Face the sunshine and thank God for His new love that is yours today.
