See to it that you do not refuse him who speaks. (Heb. 12:25)

I felt God asked me to do something I did not want to do. I tried to take control and do things my way. God allowed me to make the decision. Eventually, I did what he asked. If I had just obeyed in the first place, I could have saved a lot of time and hurt.

We must make sure we are not refusing God. It’s so easy to refuse him, to ignore what he says and do what we want to do, simply because we like to have our own way. We need to make sure that we are listening to God because if we refuse him, that’s when the enemy can get a foothold.

When we refuse God, we are refusing to trust him. We are saying we have a better plan, that we know better than God. The Israelites saw God directly, and heard from him directly, yet they still thought they could do what they wanted. Their plans only brought them to disaster. God is speaking into our hearts and lives and giving us instructions on how to live. Don’t let your desire for control block what God wants to do in your life.

Walk in obedience to what God’s asking you to do.
