Stand at the crossroads and look; ask for the ancient paths, ask where the good way is, and walk in it, and you will find rest for your souls. (Jer. 6:16)

PREPARING HOMEMADE ICE CREAM is the old-fashioned way of acquiring the delicious treat, but it is well worth it. This task gives us control over the ice cream’s ingredients, and fans of homemade ice cream agree that its flavor can’t be found in a store. Today’s ice-cream maker continuously stirs while keeping its contents cold, as opposed to the truly old-fashioned way of turning the handle for what seemed like an eternity! Even when the only way to have homemade ice cream was to turn the handle until our arms practically fell off, we die-hard fans committed ourselves to the task because we knew the end result would be so worthwhile.

As we come to a crossroads in life, God wants us to choose the road that is good. Its historical markers show the ancient names of our biblical heroes. It may be the more challenging path, but the peace it affords is sweeter than we can find anywhere else, and the end result will be so worthwhile.

Determine to take the good path, for its sweet peace is like no other.
