Listen to today’s devo!

I will declare that your love stands firm forever, that you have established your faithfulness in heaven itself. (Ps. 89:2)

My grandfather used to own a tiny sailboat. During the summers he would take the boat out on the lake, and occasionally he would bring me along. One time there was a problem, and we began to take on water. Because I viewed my grandfather as a superhero, I was not concerned. I knew he was strong and capable, and he would not let anything happen to me. Eventually, the boat sank, but not before he delivered me safely to shore. He loved me, and he used his strength to take care of me.

The author in Psalm 89 gives praise to God for his greatness. He speaks of God’s faithfulness, love, and mighty power. It is a reminder to every believer that following God carries the reassurance that his mighty power is intertwined with his steadfast love. Troubling times in life are guaranteed, but because God is faithful, he will use his strength for our benefit.

When we praise God for the attributes of his love, might, and faithfulness, we have the opportunity to be comforted throughout the easiest and the most difficult of situations. An ever-changing world is not as daunting when we cling to the promise that his love is firm and cannot be changed. And it is that steadfast love that carries us from our sinking ships to the safety of shore.

Praise God that he will use his power to love you.
