Every good and perfect gift is from God above, coming down from the Father of the heavenly lights, who does not change like shifting shadows. (James 1:17)
ON SUNDAY MORNINGS I walk down a church aisle. The pianist plays “Nothing but the Blood of Jesus.” The song prompts me to praise and worship my Lord and Savior who is the risen Christ and God’s precious gift.
Jesus came to earth as a perfect, supreme example to show people how to live. He saw their sins and took them on His shoulders. By God’s design, Jesus allowed Romans to crucify Him. The sinless Christ died and was buried. The earth could not contain Him. Three days after His burial, Jesus rose from the grave and ascended to heaven to be with His Father, the Father of lights.
After His ascension, Jesus sent the promised Holy Spirit, the third person of the Trinity. By the power of the Holy Spirit, believers come in faith to Christ and enter a walk with God. The Spirit’s function is to help believers understand Jesus’ teaching, glorify the person of Christ, and work in the lives of all believers and the church.
We have the Bible and the Holy Spirit because of Jesus Christ. The Word of God teaches, rebukes, corrects, and trains believers in righteousness.
Have you spent time with Jesus, the King of Kings, Lord of Lords, Savior, Messiah, Prince of Peace? Did you and mediated on His Word, listen to the whispers of the Holy Spirit, and apply His teaching?
Sing praises to Jesus Christ.
