The days are coming,” declares the Lord, when I will raise up to David a righteous Branch, a King who will reign wisely and do what is just and right in the land.” (Jer. 23:5)

CHRISTMAS LIGHTS, GIFTS, and programs are just some of the elements of the Christmas season. Preparing for Christmas varies from one family to another, and even from one individual to another. Some take a more commercial approach, while others take a more spiritual approach, and many combine the two. We love to shop for that one gift that will wow a certain someone. We attend the local church’s Christmas Eve service to celebrate the birth of our King. Who would have thought that that first Christmas was being prepared for centuries before His birth? Imagine a Christmas Eve service that lasted for centuries.

Jeremiah was called by God to give us this wonderful and powerful promise of the coming Savior of the world, the promise of the first Christmas. We can prepare for the coming of this wise King, Jesus, who will right all that is wrong with justice. God’s love for us is so great that we can never know the full meaning and the deepness of it. We are not to become overwhelmed with the preparation of the coming King but overwhelmed by the love that the King has for us and be drawn closer to Him.

The King is coming! Preparations must be made. We must make room for Him in our lives by giving the King first place in our hearts.

Prepare daily for the coming of our King.
