In fact, the law requires that nearly everything be cleansed with blood, and without the shedding of blood there is no forgiveness. (Heb. 9:22)
FOR DECADES children have enjoyed playing with Mr. Potato Head. They quickly learn that the eyes, ears, nose, mouth, hands, and feet have a correct placement. They also learn with delight that when these parts are rearranged, Mr. Potato Head resembles an alien. He scarcely looks anything like the endearing creature he was meant to be.
It’s easy to let a house get messy. Clutter, dust, dirty dishes, laundry, and garbage can pile up quickly. Muddy footprints make for a grungy floor. Suddenly, the house looks nothing at all like the clean house it was designed to be.
When our hearts become disheveled, we begin to say or do things that are not in keeping with the character we were meant to possess. The longer we allow the unholy conditions to persist, the more our behavior looks completely opposite of how it was intended to look. As we call upon the Lord for help, He rearranges our hearts and gives them a thorough cleaning. Jesus shed His blood to make this cleaning, this forgiveness, possible.
Call upon the Lord to clean your disheveled heart and make it look like the beautiful heart it was meant to be.
