Wisdom will save you from the ways of wicked men, from men whose words are perverse. (Prov. 2:12)

We live in a world that is dominated by lies from Satan. Most often, these lies come in the form of half-truths. If we are not careful and do not seek God’s wisdom, we can find ourselves falling victim to the lies and schemes of self-serving people. Maybe you have believed that God does not give you anything you cannot handle, so you have been trying to cope with trauma or loss without help. Maybe you chose the easy path because it seemed to make more sense. Both within the Christian community and out in the world, endless lies and wicked paths will try to convince you of their truth and purity only to fail you in the long run.

The truth is that when we have God’s wisdom, it becomes easier to spot the half-truths. It is with wisdom we come to understand that God may give or allow things to happen that are too much for us to handle alone, but not for him to handle. It is wisdom that recognizes that God gave us the gift of fellowship for a reason: to support each other and to point others to Jesus.

Wisdom saves us from the easy path, but we must ask the Holy Spirit for wisdom to spot the lies that look like truth.

Ask God to reveal to you any half-truths you believe.
