“For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.” (Matt. 11:30)

OUR TASKS ARE SOMETIMES greater than our abilities. The load can be too heavy, and our strength can be too small. When these times come, we need someone who can step in and help carry the load and provide the strength we do not have. Jesus says He wants to be that person.

When I was in graduate school, the course facilitator would sometimes appoint teams to tackle research projects or solve problems, and we were graded as a group. I didn’t mind being accountable for my own work, but I didn’t like being dragged down by some weak person on the team—and there was always at least one who just didn’t get it. They couldn’t carry their share of the load, and the rest of us had to drag him or her along.

Jesus wants to team up with me by getting me into His yoke. He knows I am not able to complete the task or carry the load by myself. When He is in the yoke beside me, I am the weak one, and He has to carry more than His share. Teaming up with Jesus is never a burden. His yoke fits me well, and He always lightens my burden. Without Him I would surely fail. What load are you currently carrying? Are you able to bear it? Team up with Jesus; He’ll share your load.

Invite Jesus to share your greatest burden today.
