Listen to today’s devo!

How much more will your Father in heaven give the Holy Spirit to those who ask him! (Luke 11:13)

The message simply said, “It’s VERY important that you be at the house by 1:30 today—I’ll explain later.” Promptly rearranging my schedule, I drove home and dropped my bag on the chair just as the front doorbell rang. Mystified, I opened the door, immediately seeing a large truck backing down the sidewalk! To my surprise, I learned that a beautiful ebony baby grand piano would soon grace one end of our living room in celebration of a special milestone in my life! Tears made it hard for me to find a camera, capture this incredible time, direct the furniture rearrangement, and watch in amazement as this treasured gift was placed in our home.

The gift-giver, my husband, knew me well. He knew just what would bring great joy to my life as well as others. Knowing I would continue being satisfied with the worn-out studio piano that he had purchased from a band teacher early in our marriage, yet somehow discerning the secret desires of my heart, he delighted in giving this special gift in love at the perfect time.

How like God that is! He knows the desires of our heart and delights in giving. Unlike ourselves at times, he knows what is truly best for us. His timing is always perfect. Ask, expect, trust, and receive. Remember: His best present is his presence with us through the Holy Spirit!

Receive the best present—his presence—through the Holy Spirit.
