Listen to today’s devo!

Dear friends, let us love one another, for love comes from God. Everyone who loves has been born of God and knows God. (1 John 4:7)

It doesn’t take being a Christian to know who Mother Teresa was. Hearing stories of her as a little girl, I always found it quite ironic that, while she chose not to marry and have children of her own, her title began with “mother.” She certainly became a mother to the world that encountered her.

Mother Teresa became a nun and devoted herself to work as a missionary. She sacrificed a comfortable life to spend her days giving to the forgotten in society. To me, she is a great example of what real love looks like, a love that we are called to embody as Christians.

God is love. He becomes family to the orphan. He chooses to love when it would be easy to walk away. He exceeds any human standard we may have for the word. To know God is to love.

Mother Teresa called it “the call within a call” because within each of us lives a deep purpose to love God and to love others above all else. I believe that when we accept this “call within a call” we must shine as an incredibly bright light to the world around us—a brightness the exudes joy, peace, and comfort that can only come from knowing the heart of our great God.

Take a moment to love someone.
