Listen to today’s devo!

Then he said to me, “Prophesy to these bones and say to them, ‘Dry bones, hear the word of the Lord!’” (Ezek. 37:4)

Expanded Passage: Ezekiel 37:4-6

Here is a quick task for you. Take a minute to recall some good news you recently received. Got it? You may be recalling a word of encouragement, a positive report, or maybe an exciting opportunity to come! Whatever the good news was, the act of recalling that news is usually followed with feelings of happiness, relief, and excitement. Now, when asked to recall good news, maybe you struggled, as recent news has seemed anything but good. Perhaps you feel dry in the hope area and would not currently describe yourself as feeling happy, relieved, or excited. Perhaps you’re in need of some good news.

As the Lord met with the prophet Ezekiel and showed him the spiritual state of his people, he also assigned Ezekiel the task of sharing some good news of hope. The Lord asked Ezekiel to share how he, God, would bring dry bones back to life by restoring his people.

My friend, hear this good news: We serve a God who restores! Through this passage, we learn more about the heart and hope of God. We find that we serve a God who transforms seemingly hopeless situations. We serve a God who brings the dead back to life. We serve a God who provides the ultimate good news. What is the good news? There is always hope.

Be reminded of the ultimate good news of his hope.
