Listen to today’s devo!

Come, all you who are thirsty, come to the waters; and you who have no money, come, buy and eat! (Isa. 55:1)

I was thirsty, but I didn’t know for what. Ice cold water has always satisfied my physical thirst, but this longing was different. Life not turning out the way I thought it should and tragedies had caused a deep void inside my soul. Nothing I tried quenched the thirst. Not the new house, new cars, or relationships. I kept waiting and looking.

The Israelites were in a similar situation. They disobeyed God over and over again by trusting themselves instead of him. Finally, they were in exile with no way out and nothing they could do to help themselves. But God. He had a plan. Even though they had sinned against him repeatedly, he gave them an invitation. What are the terms of this invitation? Simple. Come to the waters. Just come with no strings attached, no exclusions, no personal costs, and the benefits are out of this world!

On August 7, 1982, God sent a messenger to me with the same invitation: Come, buy, and eat. All I had to do was accept, and I did.

Are you in a desert experience? Are you thirsty? Do you have a void inside your soul? This is an invitation you can’t turn down. God offers this same invitation to you. Just go to the waters and receive.

Seek God for the living water to satisfy life’s desert experiences.
