“He will separate the people one from another as a shepherd separates the sheep from the goats.” (Matt. 25:32)

Seventeen-year-old Monica eyed the piano keys. Her performance at this contest, if strong enough, would place her in the final round of a statewide competition for a full scholarship in music. Suddenly, Monica remembered the words of Mrs. Stein, who had encouraged her the night before: “I’ve had a lot of students, but I noticed from the beginning you weren’t like the rest. I’m here to help you reach your potential, and I’ll do whatever it takes to see that happen.” Monica took a deep breath and placed her hands on the keys, knowing she wasn’t alone in her plan to do her best.

God knows your heart. He sees your desire to serve Him by loving and serving those around you. Not only that, but He will also do whatever it takes to help you extend His hand to those who need a practical demonstration of His love. Is there a new family you can welcome to your neighborhood? Do you have a non-Christian relative whom you haven’t visited in a while? Is there a shut-in whose day would be brightened by a friendly word? Make up your mind to follow your shepherd—Jesus Christ—wherever He leads you. Time and time again, He will lead you to those who are neglected and forgotten by the rest of the world. Serve them for Him!

Let Jesus lead you to serve those in need.
