Listen to today’s devo!

As they make music they will sing, “All my fountains are in you.” (Ps. 87:7)

There is nothing quite like experiencing birth. You know for months that it is coming. You take classes, read everything you can get your hands on, and listen to countless birth stories. Still, when the moment comes, there is such a sense of awe and surprise that you realize nothing could have prepared you for this moment. The joy, shock, relief, and wonder at a little one breathing first breaths calls emotions and praise out of your very depths, more profound than you could have predicted.

And the amazing thing is that the experience doesn’t diminish with subsequent births. Each and every new life is precious beyond measure, and each birth is accompanied by feelings and prayers so intense that they cannot be restrained. Everything is called outward with new life. The author of all life is both the source and recipient of all honorable and high praise. We are by nature made to pour out praise to him. And when we see people turn toward him and place their lives in his outstretched hands, there is a deep sense of joy and wonder, that cannot be rationalized or explained, at the miracle of new life. Instead it exudes from believers in a shout of praise reserved for this life-song. His grace and desire to see people reborn deserve the most exuberant of worship.

Lift your eyes today to the One whose grace deserves continual praise.
