Listen to today’s devo!

And now, compelled by the Spirit, I am going to Jerusalem, not knowing what will happen to me there. (Acts 20:22)

Several people sat at a large oval table and waited silently in a candlelit room. Eyes turned to the door as the psychic entered and took her seat. I wish that I could say that this is a scene from a movie, but this was a scene from my life as a new believer in Christ many years ago. No one had ever told me that visiting psychics was wrong, and prior to becoming a Christian I had visited psychics frequently.

On this evening, excitement was in the air because this psychic was popular. Eyes closed, and voice confident, the psychic spoke to each person, and they all seemed pleased. When my turn arrived, she was silent and finally opened her eyes. She looked at me and said, “Spirit says that I can’t talk to you; there’s a block wall around you.” At the time I was annoyed, but the more I studied the Bible, learned the truth, and developed a personal relationship with God, the more grateful I became that the psychic could not speak to me.

As Christians, we are filled with the powerful Holy Spirit who guides and compels us. As we mature in Christ, our character and conduct become more like his. When you know the One who holds your future, you don’t need to know what your future holds.

Trust God, because he holds your future in his hands.
