The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants

A few summers ago, I came across the movie “The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants,” about four girls who are so different yet magically found a pair of jeans that fit them all. That, for me, is a miracle! “The pants” were supposed to represent the girls’ friendship and the positive influence it has on all four girls’ lives. The characters in the movie are diverse, each with unique personalities, interests, concerns, and family dynamics.

The movie was released in the early 2000s, but I’ve come to find and watch some of these contemporary “classics” many years later. Sometimes, I feel the same regarding being late in life and in ministry as well. I feel as if I’m late or missed the release dates for lots of things, such as building friendships and connections. Attending E2024 gave me the best support as I navigated a traumatic experience; now I know I was with the right people for the right moment in the right environment. This conference is more than just an event—it’s a lifesaver if you are doubting your calling, as it’s a safe place to gather and connect with women from diverse backgrounds, including ethnic, academic, and denominational affiliations. Despite our differences, we all share the same calling to be women in ministry leadership. I attended the conference under the “your daughters will prophesy” theme and I was re-energized as that conference gave me language and reaffirmed the very gifts and talents God anointed me for. We don’t all wear the same pants, but we are all called by the same Spirit! That is why the theme for the next conference is “parakaleo,” which is based on the verse that has been the header for this newsletter since its inception. 1 Thessalonians 5:11 tells us to encourage one another and build one another up – that’s parakaleo—coming alongside, comforting, exhorting, encouraging. We who are called are charged with helping others to discover and fulfill their calling while being encouraged to fulfill our own.

Wesleyan Holiness Women Clergy (WHWC) is committed to advancing Christ’s Kingdom by engaging, empowering, and equipping women to lead in the Church at every level. WHWC has a long history of creating events for women exploring and living out their call to ministry and the ministry leaders who support them.

So, come to share with your sisters in the faith this February 23-25, 2026. Mark those dates in your calendar!! Click here to register before Nov. 16 for the early bird rate

We understand that financial constraints can sometimes prevent attendance, so in our desire to affirm you in your calling, there are opportunities to receive scholarships to attend E2026. Please email education@wesleyan.org for information on how to apply. (Although financial need may be considered, we will not ask questions about income; we just need  you to complete a short form.)

Ah, and the rules from the movie “Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants” don’t apply here: You can wash your pants, double-cuff pants are not tacky, (I think. . .), but maybe this rule does apply: “You must never say the word ‘phat’ while wearing pants at the Hyatt Regency Minneapolis, Minnesota.”

Save the date for WHWC’s E2026 conference, February 23rd- 25th, 2026! We are excited to announce that we will be going north this year, to downtown Minneapolis, Minnesota!

We will be at the beautiful Hyatt Regency, which is connected to the city’s skyway system, a pedestrian walkway connecting the entire downtown! The hotel is also located along Nicollet Mall, and has easy access to the mall’s free bus line. There is a lot of easy access to dining, shopping, coffee shops, historic churches, art, and more!

The hotel has ample space for all 900+ of us to eat, fellowship, and worship in the same spaces! It also boasts a state of the art fitness center, including an indoor pool and gym, a beautiful fireplace, and lots of natural light to embrace the hygge of the north!

There will be ample cozy spaces to meet up with friends, new and old, and have deep conversations with warm drinks in hand!

Our conference will begin at 7pm on Monday February the 23rd and end around 9pm on Wednesday February the 25th! You can travel to the area by plane, train, or receive a discount on parking in the parking garage if you drive!

So, pack your warm socks, your favorite scarf and hat, and get excited as we prepare to join together to worship, to connect, and to engage, equip, and empower one another!
