Houghton alumnus to sing with choir at Carnegie Hall

A local teacher, who earned bachelor’s and master’s degrees in music from Houghton College in 2005 and 2007, respectively, said she was invited last August with other Houghton alumni to perform at the renowned New York City music hall by her former choral conducting professor, Brandon P. Johnson.

The Free Wesleyan Church of Tonga to start rebuilding 21 churches, halls and residences

The Free Wesleyan Church of Tonga is to rebuild 21 buildings wrecked when Cyclone Ian hit Ha’apai last month. The reconstruction project will include church buildings, halls and residences for ministers.

Carson to address local high-schoolers in May

Internationally renowned surgeon, philanthropist and author Dr. Ben Carson will speak to nearly 1,500 high-school students during a visit to High Point. The event, sponsored by Wesleyan Christian Academy, will take place May 9 at First Wesleyan Church, and high-school students from several private, public and charter schools across the Triad are expected to attend.

Stroudsburg Wesleyan Church opens overnight Homeless Shelter

Each night the church gym will turn into a safe place to stay for up to 18 people. The church will provide cots and blankets.
