The North Carolina East, North Carolina West, and South Carolina districts of Wesleyan Women came together for the Carolinas Women’s Retreat. The 2nd annual retreat was held at Springmaid Beach & Resort in Myrtle Beach, S.C., on April 4-6, 2014, with almost 500 women in attendance.

“There is Hope” was the theme. The keynote speaker, Shirley Duncan, along with two of her daughters, shared the message of hope through God’s Word, humor, and personal experiences. God richly blessed hearts through the music led by Martha Mosley and her team.

In an effort to increase awareness, there was also a presentation on human trafficking and opportunities to get involved in local ministries that reach out to victims of domestic violence.

An offering of over $6,000 was collected in honor of David and Shirley Duncan and will be applied toward the New Children’s Ministry Lab in the Nicholson-Mitchell Christian Ministry Center at Southern Wesleyan University. This new lab will be named in honor of David and Shirley for their dedication to children’s ministry.

God used this time away to challenge many hearts through the power of the Holy Spirit as hope through Jesus Christ was presented.
