I say, “You are my God.” My times are in your hands. (Ps. 31:14–15)

TIME MANAGEMENT IS THE SCIENCE of exercising control over the amount of time spent on specific activities, especially to increase efficiency or productivity. Over the years, time management theorists have developed systems for tracking the use of time. Perhaps you use one of these systems—either on paper or online—which usually includes a calendar and a task list.

These tools are helpful for organizing daily tasks, but they can’t manage the most important details of our lives. A calendar can remind you of appointments, but it cannot make you be on time. A to-do list or project management system can help you keep track of important details, but it cannot give you more energy or creativity. Sometimes it seems as though the more we try to control our lives, the more out of control they become. The simplest things, such as the weather or an unexpected phone call, may force us to realize that we have little or no control over the days of our lives.

But God does. Our times are in His hands. He is never surprised by interruptions, and there is no situation beyond His control. He knows each of our appointments, and He is never late. When you put your trust in God, your life comes under control—His control. Relax and trust the One who never fails.

Say this ten times today: “You are my God. My times are in Your hands.”
