Stand at the crossroads and look; ask for the ancient paths, ask where the good way is, and walk in it. (Jer. 6:16)
WE WERE WARNED several times while hiking in the Grand Canyon. Several signs told us to never leave the trail. We did it anyway, thinking we could see a shortcut. The shortcut led us straight into a den of rattlesnakes. We finally got back on the trail and were safe.
Everyone has decisions to make: chocolate or vanilla, paper or plastic, sweet or unsweet, debit or credit, left or right, generic or name brand. These everyday choices are important, but there is one that carries much more weight for our lives. Will I go my way or God’s way? The Lord has not left out any bit of instruction, guidance, or warning for living on this earth. His Word is just as clear for us as it was for the Israelites. There is a good way. It is His way. We are to look for it. We are to ask which one is the way that leads to God and rest for our souls.
There are everlasting paths marked out for us that lead directly to God and His goodness. Stay on the trail. The shortcuts in life may seem to make sense at the time, but they usually lead to dangerous peril.
Follow God’s pathway, His right way of living, and His road to eternal life in heaven.
Before you choose a path, ask God to show you His way.
