Fund a church planter

Congregational Style Church Plant Startup Grant - $10K
The Church Multiplication Collective of The Wesleyan Church is committed to providing a $10,000 Startup Grant for every qualifying autonomous church plant that is planting a congregational style church. *This new grant will be available upon receiving and approving the grant; and as this Startup Grant fund allows.

In order to qualify for the startup grant, church planters must:

1. Complete and submit the Startup Grant Application.

2. Provide an electronic copy of an official report from one of the CMC’s regional Church Planting Assessment Center (or an equivalent Assessment Center).

3. Provide an electronic document demonstrating District Board of Administration (DBA) approval of the new project.

4. Register the new church with TWC (information found HERE).

5. Participate in a church planting training event, such as, Essentials (information found HERE). Create and submit an electronic document stating the name, location, and date of the training you were involved in.

6. Commit to a one-year coaching relationship with a certified coach (information found HERE). Provide an electronic copy of a signed coaching agreement.

7. Submit an electronic document detailing your ministry plans, budget, timeline, and launch date.

*Currently, campuses and multisite projects are not eligible for this grant. 

8. Email all documents to Angela Croxon.

Upon approval and receipt of the items above, the CMC will bless you with a check in the name of the new church.

Micro Church Network Startup Grant - $4K

Purpose: With the rise of micro-church and house-church networks, the CMC is distinguishing this grant from the typical large launch model. Micro-church networks are defined by having at least three units, led by separate individuals.

The Church Multiplication Collective of The Wesleyan Church is committed to providing a $4,000 Startup Grant for every qualifying autonomous micro church network. *This new grant will be available upon receiving and approving the grant; and as this Startup Grant fund allows.

In order to qualify for the startup grant, church planters must:

1. Complete and submit the Micro Network Startup GranApplication.

2. Provide an electronic copy of an official report from one of the CMC’s regional Church Planting Assessment Center (or an equivalent Assessment Center), or the Wiring Assessment.

3. Provide an electronic document demonstrating District Board of Administration (DBA) approval of the new project.

4. Register the new church/network with TWC (information found HERE).

5. Participate in a church planting training event, such as, Essentials (information found HERE). Create and submit an electronic document stating the name, location, and date of the training you were involved in.

6. Commit to a one year coaching relationship with a certified coach (information found HERE). Provide an electronic copy of a signed coaching agreement.

7. Submit an electronic document detailing your ministry plans, budget, timeline, and start date. Note: *Before this grant can be distributed, the leader must show evidence of overseeing at least three micro-units, facilitated by two additional leaders.  

*Currently, campuses and multisite projects are not eligible for this grant.

Multipliers Church Plant Grant - $5k

In addition to the Startup Grant, The Church Multiplication Collective of The Wesleyan Church is committed to providing a $5,000 grant for autonomous church plants committed to church multiplication from the very beginning. *This new grant will be available upon receiving and approving the grant; and as this grant fund allows.

In order to qualify for the Multipliers Church Plant Grant, church planters must provide the same documentation as the Startup grant criteria (#1-7 below) plus an additional criteria and commitment to church multiplication (see #8).

1. Complete the Multipliers Church Plant Grant

2. Provide an electronic copy of an official report from one of the CMC’s regional Church Planting Assessment Center (or an equivalent Assessment Center).

3. Provide an electronic document demonstrating District Board of Administration (DBA) approval of the new project.

4. Register the new church with TWC (information found HERE).

5. Participate in a church planting training event, such as, Essentials (information found HERE). Create and submit an e-document stating the name, location, and date of the training you were involved in.

6. Commit to a one-year coaching relationship with a certified coach (information found HERE). Provide an electronic copy of a signed coaching agreement.

7. Submit an electronic document detailing your ministry plans, budget, timeline, and launch date.

8. Submit an electronic document detailing your church multiplication plans and a commitment to plant at least one autonomous church by the third year of the plant (post-launch).

Plans must demonstrate:

  • A line-item in the church’s budget or a percentage of the tithes and offerings being designated toward funding church planting (post-launch).
  • An emphasis on planter development, such as, starting a church planting residency or engaging in a church planting network.
  • A regular form of communicating the value of church multiplication within membership courses or embracing TWC’s annual Church Multiplication Sunday event.

Startup Grant Application

Multipliers Church Plant Grant

Hephzibah 62:4/CMC Church Plant Grant - $9k

Hephzibah62:4, in partnership with the Church Multiplication Collective, has designed our Church Plant Grant process to equip your church plant with the tools you need to create, grow, and sustain effective ministry to vulnerable children in your community. Qualified and approved church plants are eligible for up to $9,000 in ministry grant funding, paid in three annual installments.

CHURCH PLANT GRANT PROCESS

Post-Launch Coaching Grant - $1.5K
Purpose: Regardless of the church planting model, having a defined coaching relationship increases the success and longevity of the project.

The Church Multiplication Collective of The Wesleyan Church is committed to providing a $1,500 grant for every qualifying church planter. *This new grant will be available upon receiving and approving the grant; and as this Startup Grant fund allows. 

In order to qualify for the Coaching Grant, church planters must:

  • Complete and submit Post-Launch Coaching Grant Application.
  • Meet the general qualifications found under the Startup Grant (Large Launch or Micro-Church Network).
  • Allocate grant funds for the purpose of coaching, within the first two years post-launch of the project.
  • Provide an electronic copy of a signed coaching agreement with a certified coach.
  • Email all documents to Angela Croxon.

Post-Launch Booster Grant - Starting at $5k

Purpose: The primary objective of any new church, regardless of the model, is to reach people far from God and connect individuals to a saving relationship with Christ. The Post-Launch Booster grant will be distributed after a church planter demonstrates a significant storyline of salvations and baptisms. Salvation and baptism evidence must be demonstrated, with at least 10 stories of genuine salvation/baptism within the first 24 months post-launch.

In order to qualify for the Post-Launch Booster Grant, church planters must:

  • Complete and submit the Post-Launch Booster Grant Application.
  • Meet the general qualifications found under the Startup Grant (Large Launch or Micro-Church Network).
  • The Post-Launch Booster grant will be distributed after a church planter demonstrates a significant storyline of salvations and baptisms. Salvation and baptism evidence must be demonstrated within the first 24 months post-launch, with at least 10 stories of genuine salvation/baptism. Please provide a document summarizing the individual’s name, brief testimony, and baptism date.
  • Email all documents to Angela Croxon.

Grant amount to be determined by the CMC executive team. Upon approval and receipt of the items above, the CMC will bless you with a check in the name of the new church.

Sending Church Matching Grant - $5K

Purpose: Since The Wesleyan Church desires to see a significant increase in reproducing/multiplying/sending churches, this matching grant exists to assist new sending churches with startup funds for the new church plant project.

In order to qualify for the Sending Church Matching Grant, sending church leaders must:

  • Provide evidence of the matching dollars.
  • Provide evidence of district approval for the new church plant.
  • Provide a strategic plan for how the church is preparing to continue reproducing beyond the proposed project.
  • Email all documents to Angela Croxon.

Church Planting Network Startup Matching Grant - $5K

Purpose: Church Planting Networks are one of the healthiest ways for a cluster of local churches to increase their multiplication culture within their churches and the churches they start. New church planting networks, defined by having at least three autonomous partnering churches involved, are encouraged within TWC. This CPN Startup Grant is a matching grant.

In order to qualify for the Church Planting Network Startup Matching Grant, the CPN must:

  • Have a designated CPN organizational point person/leader.
  • Have a designated CPN coach, at least for the first year of development.
  • Provide an expanded prospectus/strategic plan for the CPN, which will be reviewed and evaluated by the CMC director.
  • Provide evidence of completing a CPN training, such as, wesleyan.org/multiplication/cpncourse or an equivalent training course.
  • Provide evidence of the matching dollars coming directly from the CPN churches.
  • Provide evidence of network churches committing to a consistent financial gift or a percentage based giving pattern to the CPN’s collective pool of funds.
  • Provide evidence of District Approval of a new church plant that is being planted by the network.
  • Email all documents to Angela Croxon.

Upon approval and receipt of the items above, the CMC will bless you with a check in the name of the Network or Church that is responsible for handling the network’s funds.

Church Planting Network Coaching Grant - $2K

Purpose: Since The Wesleyan Church desires to see a significant increase in reproducing/multiplying/sending churches, this matching grant exists to assist new church planting network leaders with a CPN coach. Starting a CPN is extremely complicated, and by having a CPN coach, the CPN will avoid pitfalls and gain multiplication strength quicker.

In order to qualify for the Church Planting Network Coaching Grant, the CPN leader must:

Campus/Multi-Site Startup Grant - $5K
The Church Multiplication Collective of The Wesleyan Church is committed to providing a $5,000 “matching” grant for any church committed to launching a new reproducing campus or site within a new location or zip code. *This new grant will be available upon receiving and approving the grant; and as this grant fund allows.

In order to qualify for the Reproducing Campus/Site Startup Grant, church leaders

  1. Complete and submit the Startup Grant for New Campus Site Application
  2. Must be a Wesleyan Church in good standing.
  3. Must have local church board (or leadership advisory team) approval.
  4. Must have District Superintendent approval (*DBA approval not necessary).
  5. Must be willing to commit to govern the new campus/site in perpetuity or until the campus/site obtains autonomous church plant status.
  6. Must be willing to mentor and provide a strong relationship and strategic guidance for the campus/site leadership team.
  7. Must be willing to proactively set up the campus/site to become a reproducing/multiplying church body.
  8. Please submit a budget of the percentage of the campus/site’s offering for a future campus/site or autonomous church plant.

Church Planting Residency Host Site Grant - $4K

The Church Multiplication Collective of The Wesleyan Church is committed to providing a $4,000 “matching” grant for any church committed to becoming a host site for a church planting residency. *This new grant will be available upon receiving and approving the grant; and as this grant fund allows.

In order to qualify for the Church Plant Residency Startup Grant, church leaders:

  1. Must be a Wesleyan Church in good standing.
  2. Must have local church board (or leadership advisory team) approval.
  3. Must have District Superintendent approval (*DBA approval not necessary).
  4. Must be willing to commit to the residency path for at least one year.
  5. Must include Essentials Church Planter Training (9 months online) as the content/curriculum for the church planters.
  6. Must be willing to connect residents to a certified/trained Wesleyan Church Planter Coach.
  7. The lead pastor (or designated staff pastor) must be willing to serve as the primary mentor/supervisor for the residents.
  8. Must be willing to find temporary housing for residents.
  9. Must be willing to serve as a sending/parent church for residents.
  10. Must be willing to fulfill the Church Planter Residency outcomes (see below).

Church Planter Residency Objective and Outcomes:

General Objective:

  • Achieve readiness for church planting in the areas of personal growth, emotional intelligence, relational awareness, spiritual growth, theological application, and ministry experience.

Specific Outcomes:

  • Examine call and role in church planting (Church Planter Assessment Center)
  • Identify and affirm leadership gifts and strengths
  • Grow in spiritual formation
  • Practice personal and communal discipleship and evangelism
  • Improve spiritual qualities and healthy family/marriage dynamics
  • Integrate theological training into the practice of ministry
  • Increase competencies in every dimension of ministry
  • Grow in interpersonal relationships and professional skills
  • Develop one (or more) new ministries
  • Grow in demographic and sociological awareness (within the new church plant’s location)
  • Formulate a prayer team strategy
  • Develop vision, mission, and core values of the new church
  • Understand budget and financial systems within a new church
  • Increase cultural diversity awareness and multi-ethnic strategies
  • Increase awareness of effective discipleship and evangelistic strategies for a post-Christian culture
  • Increase awareness of fundraising dynamics and develop a strategy for raising funds for the new church
  • Draft a church plant proposal document

Young Sending Church Grant - $5K
Purpose: Since The Wesleyan Church desires to see a significant increase in new churches committed to multiplication, this matching grant exists to assist young sending churches (less than 5 years post launch) absorb the cost of sending financial and human resources to start a new church.

In order to qualify for the Young Sending Church Matching Grant, sending church leaders must:

  • Complete and submit the Young Sending Church Grant Application.
  • Provide evidence of the matching dollars.
  • Provide evidence of district approval for the new church plant.
  • Provide a strategic plan for how the church is preparing to continue reproducing beyond the proposed project.
  • Provide evidence of releasing people to join the team of the new church plant.

Thrive Grant - $1.5K - $2K
The CMC is excited to partner with the Education and Clergy Department and offer church planters a matching grant opportunity for $1,500-$2,000 a year for up to three years. Church planters who receive the $4,000 Startup Grant may use those funds as their matching dollars for the first year. Church planters may choose to only tap into this grant fund for one year, or they can continue receiving a grant for $1,500-$2,000 for the following two years by completing the grant requirements. The funds will be sent directly to the church planter and not the church. Please go Thrive Financial Initiative  to review the program requirements and submit your application.

Soul Care - up to $1.5K
Purpose: The health of any new church depends on the health of the leader. This grant is being offered as a matching grant with Education and Clergy Development (ECG), specifically designated for the Soul Care Retreats provided by the CMC or Pastor the Pastor Ministries.
