For he will command his angels concerning you to guard you in all your ways. (Ps. 91:11)

LIVING APART FROM a beloved relative can be difficult. After the loss of a loved one, you must grapple with the stark reality of separation that seems unimaginable. That special someone you were expecting to have around until you were well up in years is now gone. Just the casual mention of their name reminds you of their absence from your life. Like a ship lost at sea, you realize that person will never return.

For the believer, God provides a comforting plan. In this scriptural passage, God shares His promise of angel assignment. He assigns angels to be in charge of us, to care for us, and to protect us in our going out and our coming in. God loves us so much that he commands the angels to guard our lives in every step we take.

There are biblical references of angels who speak, appear, and accompany humans through various life experiences. The angels assigned to us are thought to know us best. Angels are an invisible gift from God to protect us from evil forces and one of the great blessings imparted to those who believe in Him. As we transition through the challenges of life, let’s be grateful for the presence of angels all around us.

When life gets you down, thank God for His unfailing presence.
