Daily Reading: Ephesians 3:14–21

And I pray that you, being rooted and established in love, may have power, together with all the saints, to grasp how wide and long and high and deep is the love of Christ. (Eph. 3:17–18)

It is possible for the love of Jesus Christ to live in and through you. Believers in Jesus Christ are to be rooted and established in love. Our foundation and strength to live morally, be a witness, bring justice to the oppressed, and remain unified with other believers is the love of Christ in us. Christ’s love is eternal and all-encompassing. It reaches to every edge of our experience.

Christ’s love is wide enough to cover the gamut of our needs as well as bring mercy to the entire world. It is long enough to see us personally as well as gaze into eternity. It is high enough to rise to our greatest moments of celebration and accomplishment. And, it is deep enough to gather our valleys of discouragement and despair, including death itself.

Some people picture these four dimensions of the universe as the four arms of the cross. How wide and long and high and deep is the love Jesus has for us? How large is the love of Jesus Christ for you and all who have ever been created? Frankly, as big as His cross!

Rejoice in the fact that it is impossible to exhaust the measure of Christ’s love for us.
