I am the Alpha and the Omega, the First and the Last, the Beginning and the End. (Rev. 22:13)

WE CAN’T COMPREHEND the magnitude of God. There is nothing more solid than the self-description in this verse. What more could we add, or what could we take away? This proves God’s faithfulness. His names alone prove the concreteness of His existence. He cannot help but be constant. It is His very nature to be perfectly present at all times. So why do we wonder where He is in our time of need?

As the little child who loses sight of his parents in the store, we too are distracted from the One who guides and protects at all times. We look up from our toils and think He has moved away from us, leaving us alone and lost. Then, we call out to Him, and as He holds out His hand, we realize we were the ones who wandered. We have lost track of our surroundings and find we are only a speck in the large picture of life.

But when we brand our hearts with His signature, we can never really be far from the Almighty One. He is there to gently but firmly lead us back home, patiently waiting for us to comprehend how much it means for the Alpha and Omega to go before us. The lessons are frequent because we aren’t always quick to learn, but He never runs out of ways to teach us.

Make the Most High God the rock on which you stand.
