Suddenly there was such a violent earthquake that the foundations of the prison were shaken. (Acts 16:26)

THE PHONE RINGS and your world changes. Good news. Bad news. Shocking news. Life-changing news. You get up in the morning and never know what this day will bring. By the end of the day, you may not even recognize your world.

Sometimes God is the only one to be credited for the life-shaking events. Paul and Silas had done no wrong and yet found themselves in prison for preaching the gospel. The jailer? In the course of his day, he found himself stuck with religious fanatics, thought he would die when there was a violent earthquake, or his escaped prisoners would kill him!

Yet the biggest quake that day occurred in the jailer’s soul as he found Jesus in the midst of unbelievable circumstances. God, in His tenderness, decided to free Silas and Paul with an earthquake. And God included the jailer and all the other inmates in His miraculous “life-quake” that day.

Jesus had been available all this time, and all the jailer had to do was believe. But God had to shake him up to get his attention. So when life (or God) throws an earthquake into your day, look for what you can find of Jesus in it. You never know what God might be up to.

Look for God in the “earthquakes” of your life.
