Daily Reading: Psalm 37:3–9

Delight yourself in the Lord and he will give you the desires of your heart. (Ps. 37:4)

Heaven’s atmosphere exists as a reflective manifestation of its King. Contrary to what many of us expect, God’s heart beats with smiling joy over all His creation. Laughter, singing, and even dancing frame the desires He carries for all of us. Even more amazing, He waits with anticipation for us to look for Him amid the experiences of our lives. Longing to unlock His character within our hearts, the Lord continually shines upon us the wonder of His enjoyment. Even when we fail? Yes, especially in these moments. He, more than anyone, knows the answer to our times of stumbling lies in the joy-filled reaffirmation of our worth to Him. Where insecurity fills our hearts to draw near, the Lord invites us with excitable gladness to come close. The more we experience His delight, the greater our capacity to delight in Him.

With passionate longing, the Lord loves to set in motion the deep desires of our hearts. He cherishes the treasure of our lives, and waits for us to treasure Him. As we delight in one another, the fulfilling of our heart longings marks our growing closeness with Him.

The desires of our hearts exist with deep value to the Lord. Enjoying the Lord’s presence regardless of our present state moves Him to do His part toward their fulfillment.

Turn to the Lord with an increased expectation of His delight over your life.
