For in him you have been enriched in every way. (1 Cor. 1:5)
THERE ARE DIFFERENT WAYS to become rich. You can inherit wealth, win the lottery, be lucky in the stock market, be successful in business, work hard, save a portion of what you make, or wisely invest it. None of these have worked for me, yet I am a rich man. My wealth will not show up in my bank account or as an asset in my estate, though I pray that my wealth is passed on to my family.
Wealth is not always measured in dollars, stocks, bonds, or property. There are people who may be poor on the outside but have been made rich on the inside. They have grown because of the positive influence of good persons. They have expanded their appreciation of their world through the arts or through literature. What they have experienced and who they have come to know has enriched their lives more than any common currency could buy. Most importantly, they have come to know Christ, and thus their spiritual net worth took a giant leap upward. I am one of these persons. God has blessed me abundantly.
The apostle Paul spoke of the “incomparable riches of his grace” (Eph. 2:7). Better than the touch of Midas, whomever grace touches it enriches. When the grace of God comes into a person’s life, it always makes him or her better and richer.
Count your many blessings and enjoy your wealth today.
