He is able to save completely those who come to God through him, because he always lives to intercede for them. (Heb. 7:25)

TOO MANY POOR CHOICES led me down a road of destruction. I walked away from God, my church, and Christian friends. My life was a mess, and I didn’t know how to fix it. I visited a pastor, hoping to get the encouragement I desperately needed.

“I miss being a part of God’s family,” I said. “But I’m not worthy.”

“None of us are worthy,” the pastor said, smiling.

“You don’t understand,” I said. “The people here look like they have their lives together. Mine is a disaster of divorce and broken relationships.”

What the pastor said next changed my life. “Christ died for sinners. We can’t live in this world without sin touching us. You can accept what Jesus did on the cross for you, or keep beating up on yourself.”

I left the pastor’s office a changed person and began to read the Scriptures. Each verse seemed to be directed toward me. I learned from Hebrews 7:25 that Jesus lives to intercede for me. Strong-willed and self-sufficient, or so I thought, I didn’t think I needed anyone’s prayers. Yet knowing Jesus prays for me changed everything. I felt loved and valued instead of used or taken for granted. I began to choose God’s ways over my own. Even though I’ve done nothing to deserve His presence in my life, I’m glad I’ll never be without Jesus again.

Thank Jesus today for how He prays for you.
