Those who are led by the Spirit of God are sons of God. (Rom. 8:14)

GUESTS PULLED UP in our driveway though they lived fifteen hundred miles from us, had never been to our home, and had not received directions from us. They said “Gabby” directed them straight to our house. “Gabby” was the other woman in the car that kept telling the driver where to turn. She resides within the GPS mounted on the dash. They were led where they had never been before by GPS technology.

More amazing and reliable than technology is the guidance provided us by the Holy Spirit. We need direction in making decisions. We can’t see around the corner into tomorrow. We need a moral compass in a morally confused world. Right and wrong may be easy to discern when the issues are black and white, but gray issues camouflage the right choice, and so much of life these days looks gray.

Those who belong to God are gifted with the leadership of the Spirit. The One who knows the beginning from the end; the One who separates the shades of gray into black and white; and the One who sees the consequences that lie around the corner before the decision is even made teams up with our spirit to guide, affirm, correct, and lead us in the paths of righteousness.

The first Christmas event was filled with God’s direction and leadership. Mary, Joseph, and shepherds were led by angels. Wise men from the Orient were led by a star moved through the heavens by the hand of God. Their obedience to the leadership of the Spirit allows us to celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ today.

Step confidently into today with the knowledge that the steps of a righteous person are ordered by the Lord.
