He who was seated on the throne said, “I am making everything new!” Then he said, “Write this down, for these words are trustworthy and true.” (Rev. 21:5)

A YOUNG BOY was wished a happy birthday. “How old are you?” the well-wisher asked.

“I’m four years old,” he replied.

“My, you’re getting old,” replied the other person.

“No, I’m not,” he said. “I’m still new.”

The young boy probably didn’t realize how powerful his attitude is. If each of us adopted this boy’s positive outlook—that we’re still new—how much easier our days might be. No matter our age or circumstances, we don’t have to feel old or worthless.

God said He is making everything new. This includes you and me. What a wonderful thought that all the old things will be done away with and we have only the new to look forward to. Through Him, we can abandon the old mind-sets that make us feel worthless. We can develop new habits that keep us strong and confident. We can live in a new environment. God added this promise: “These words are trustworthy and true.” We can trust God to do exactly what He said He would do. He put it in writing for us.

Each of us must accept for ourselves the promise that God will make new things happen in our lives. And when He performs this work, we must be in agreement with Him, to leave behind the old habits and embrace new ones.

Decide today to embrace the new life God has for you.
