Following is an update about Mozambique relief efforts, after a devastating cyclone hit the area in mid-March.
Since Cyclone Idai hit Mozambique in southeast Africa two weeks ago, The Wesleyan Church and World Hope International (WHI) have partnered with The Wesleyan Church of Mozambique leaders and Global Partners missionaries, Jim and Karen Pickett, to provide relief. The Wesleyan Emergency Relief Fund (WERF) was activated for Mozambique on March 19.
Water filters, tents and solar lanterns purchased through WERF were transported to Mozambique by a team of six individuals. The team and supplies departed for South Africa on March 29, with air travel provided through partnership between Airlink and WHI. As of March 29, more than $26,000 has been donated to WERF for Mozambique relief.
Significant needs remain. Relief and rebuilding efforts will be ongoing.
