But at that time your people—everyone whose name is found written in the book—will be delivered. (Dan. 12:1)

“SIGN HERE,” said the pastor, pointing to our marriage license.

“Sign here,” said the nurse, pointing to our son’s birth certificate.

“Sign here,” said the escrow officer, pointing to the deed for our home.

Our names, when written on a document, have significance and power. Our signatures show that we are legally married, legally responsible for another human being, or have legal ownership. Throughout our lives, we write our names on legal and binding documents.

Daniel 12:1 tells us that as a people of God our names are written in the book. Revelation 21:27 refers to the Lamb’s Book of Life. Both of these references are found within verses of prophecy. Scriptures with prophecy can be intimidating or difficult to read. Even biblical scholars will disagree on their meanings.

But as Christ’s disciples, we can be confident that we worship a powerful God. The Creator of the universe has a plan—not only for our future here on earth, but also for our eternity, a plan that will last even after the end of the earth. We can be secure in the fact that though we cannot predict what will happen in the next hour, we can rest with confidence in our future with the King of Kings. Having our name written in the Lamb’s Book of Life secures our eternity.

Be confident that a powerful God moves you into a secure future.
