Dr. Stephen Lennox has been named as the unanimous choice of the Kingswood University Presidential Search Committee as the single candidate for president. He and his wife Eileen will be on campus in February and then again in March for the vote of the board of trustees.

If elected by the board, it is presumed Dr. Lennox would assume duties later this year in Sussex, New Brunswick, Canada. The presidential vacancy was created by the resignation of Dr. Mark Gorveatte, who will be completing five years of able service at the helm of Kingswood this summer.

Word of the nomination of Dr. Lennox was a popular topic of conversation among Kingswood friends and supporters at The Gathering of thousands of ministers and spouses in Orlando, Florida, last month. The news was met with keen interest and acclaim.

Dr. Lennox is a recognized scholar, extraordinary teacher, sought-after leader, and faithful churchman.

A 1979 Houghton College graduate, Dr. Lennox has been an ordained minister of The Wesleyan Church since 1983. He had a decade of experience pastoring Wesleyan churches and teaching at United Wesleyan College and Evangelical School of Theology.

In 1992, Dr. Lennox completed his Ph.D. in biblical studies at Drew University with distinction, and joined the faculty at Indiana Wesleyan University the next year. In twenty-two years at IWU he has been a favorite Bible professor of countless ministry students, has ably served as chair of the division of religion and philosophy (6 yrs.), dean of the chapel (3 yrs.), director of the graduate ministerial program, and acting associate dean.

With deep roots in The Wesleyan Church, Dr. Lennox has accepted ministry opportunities far beyond his university teaching and leading responsibilities. He was the vice-chair of the local board at College Wesleyan Church in Marion, Ind.; he was a member of the Indiana North District boards of administration and ministerial development; has preached and taught in numerous camps and conferences; and has given decades of continuous service as a Sunday school teacher. His global ministry includes serving as a visiting professor in Zambian, Jamaican, and Russian Bible colleges and other venues. He has immersed himself in the biblical lands with numerous study and teaching trips to Israel, Egypt, Turkey, and Greece.

Dr. Lennox’ publication record in biblical studies fills several pages, and he has also been much in demand as a frequent presenter at theological and biblical societies and conferences.

Dr. Lennox is the husband of Eileen and the father of Abigail and Ethan. His curriculum vita is available here.
