But we know that when Christ appears, we shall be like him, for we shall see him as he is.
(1 John 3:2)
THE MASTER SCULPTOR carefully works his instruments to fashion just the right shapes and shadows on his stunning creation. He toils tirelessly for days or months until he is satisfied with the likeness he has envisioned for years. It is a work of impressive art—a culmination of a lifetime of study, planning, and patience. Soon it will be time to throw back the tarp and reveal the masterpiece. It will be just as grand he has said it would be—a reflection of the artist’s efforts.
Just as the artist loves his creation, God loves His children. But unlike the sculpture, we will someday know and embrace our Creator. He loves us enough to show us His true self in all His splendor and majesty. What a privilege to stand before the living God and know He chose to reveal himself to us.
Do you long to see Him face-to-face? Do you know Him well enough to recognize Him when He appears? If you have submitted to the gentle cutting away of unneeded substance, you will begin to see Him in the way you talk and in the way you think. One day we will behold Him and see the miracle of our salvation. If we have been clay in the Master’s hand, we will find our likeness—a reflection of God’s awesomeness.
Determine to stay moldable and ready for His coming.
