Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you. (1 Pet. 5:7)

IT’S A MADHOUSE every year. My house, that is. The annual conference I direct takes over my life for a few months before the event. Just when I’m sure I have all the details covered, I think of something else I need to take care of. Dozens of people are counting on me, and I’m steering the ship.

And there is my problem. I have a habit of taking the wheel and bearing the burdens of leadership all by myself. Sure, I get the job done. I also end up with anxiety I don’t need to carry, and an elevated self-awareness that pushes God aside in my plans. It’s hard for me to let go of the helm and trust God to do the navigating. I’m afraid to give Him control. It sounds silly, but for me it takes courage to cast everything on Him. But after I do, I experience such a wonderful feeling of peace and loving care. Then I ask myself why I waited so long to hand it over.

In the daily process of trusting God to carry our burdens, something special happens. We find we no longer want to be in control. We are content to let Him make the plan and receive all the glory for the outcome.

What joy to live in a faithful partnership with Him. It’s what He longs for.

Release today any burden you are clutching unnecessarily.
