Indiana Wesleyan University (IWU) is honored to welcome the delegates, as well as other pastors, lay leaders and guests to the 15th General Conference of The Wesleyan Church. As we gather, it is our prayer that this holy moment will be empowered by the Holy Spirit as we gratefully acknowledge his faithfulness during the past four years. It is our privilege to invite you into our campus community.
Throughout this conference, we seek to come together united by the shared calling to live out the gospel of Jesus Christ with faithfulness, clarity and courage. Rooted in the Word of God and work of Christ, we seek to listen attentively to the Spirit’s leading, discerning together God’s direction for The Wesleyan Church. In the process, we will celebrate God’s faithfulness, affirm our historic commitments to scriptural holiness and transformational discipleship, and engage thoughtfully in the work set before us — to the glory of God and the advancement of his kingdom.
A university rooted in Wesleyan formation
Here at Indiana Wesleyan University, where we are unapologetically Christ-centered in our pursuit of academic excellence and spiritual flourishing, our goal is to raise up an army of committed Christ followers who will go into every occupation to literally change the world! Our commitment to Christ and his Word is not confined to a single space or moment. It doesn’t matter if one of our 15,000 students’ lives on campus, experiences classes online or studies for the ministry in The Wesleyan Church’s own seminary, Wesley Seminary; every classroom discussion and/or campus experience is designed to form the student into the image of God, committed to Christ and his kingdom.
Hospitality and holy love
During the days of General Conference, IWU will extend what we describe as high impact hospitality. For us, hospitality is not merely a logistical function to have a “good event’. It is an expression of our Love of God and Love of Neighbor — with Christ being our prime example. From arrival to departure, we will work to make sure all guests will be greeted by IWU people who understand that high impact hospitality is not just what we do, it’s who we are, as a community.
What to expect
Every summer, IWU welcomes over 26,000 guests to our Marion Campus. As a result, delegates and guests can expect a campus thoughtfully prepared to support worship, reflection and connection. IWU’s Marion Campus is accessible and walkable, designed to host large assemblies in our 3,200-seat chapel, while also providing space for prayerful conversation in our multiple prayer rooms, and even our stone Prayer Chapel. Between sessions, participants in the General Conference are invited to make use of these and other gathering spaces throughout our 300-acre campus.
There are also plenty of available facilities for recreation. We have both indoor and outdoor tracks to accommodate the walker in case of inclement weather, pickleball courts, multiple indoor and outdoor basketball courts and even sand volleyball. The city of Marion has multiple eating establishments, with coffee shops and restaurants just a few hundred yards from campus.
A grateful welcome
We are deeply grateful to the denomination for granting us the opportunity to host the 15th General Conference of The Wesleyan Church. As we gather here at IWU, we are reminded that to be empowered is not merely to be equipped for action, but to be shaped by grace and sent in love. Reports from across our global Wesleyan family testify that God is at work, empowering the church to serve, to lead and to proclaim the good news with faith and faithfulness.
From this place, may we move forward renewed and confident, trusting that the same Spirit who gathered us will now continue to empower us for the work ahead, to the glory of God and for the sake of the world.
Welcome to Indiana Wesleyan University.
