Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own. (Matt. 6:34)
GROUCHO MARX ONCE SAID, “Politics is the art of looking for trouble, finding it everywhere, diagnosing it incorrectly and applying the wrong remedies.” This process should not be attributed only to politics. It seems some people live with the agenda of looking for trouble, and they are almost always successful. The truth is, you don’t have to go looking for trouble. Trouble will come looking for you. And it seems that trouble comes in bunches. Just when you think you have yesterday’s mess cleaned up, today brings new trouble. After a while you start worrying about tomorrow, wondering what mess will be yours to deal with then.
Jesus was right when He said that in the world we will have trouble. We can say amen to that. But in the same breath Jesus said, “Take heart! I have overcome the world” (John 16:33). Overcoming trouble was part of His mission. He overcame the worst that the world and its people could throw at Him. He now offers His Spirit and His power to help us deal with the troubles of the world. So don’t worry about tomorrow. He is already there and will prepare a way for you. Just look for a sparrow and you will see God and His care. Remember that He cares more about you.
Take heart. The Father knows your trouble and will lead you through it.
