But you are a chosen people . . . that you may declare the praises of him who called you out of darkness into his wonderful light. (1 Pet. 2:9)

IT DIDN’T LOOK LIKE a company vehicle. The small white pickup had obviously seen many years of service. Still, detailed lettering was emblazoned across the tailgate. Perhaps it belonged to a handyman, perhaps, advertising his services. Curious, I edged up to the truck until I could read the whole message, and what a message it was! It seems that the driver had been the fortunate recipient of a heart transplant a couple of years earlier. In his deep gratitude, he had fashioned his truck into a rolling billboard, praising the ones who had given him new life. There, for all the world to read, were the names of the hospital and every surgeon, nurse, and technician who had been in the operating room that day.

As I read the names, the Holy Spirit whispered to me: “Haven’t you also been given a new heart? A new lease on life?” I deserved punishment but was offered mercy. I had no hope of heaven but was given grace. God himself adopted me as His precious child, and I get to enjoy the pleasure of His presence every day.

Has He done the same for you? Whom have you told? We serve a great God. If we, the recipients of His mercy and grace, don’t tell the world, who will? He is worthy of our praise!
