He held fast to the Lord and did not cease to follow him. (2 Kings 18:6)

AS A GIRL OF FOURTEEN YEARS, I always prayed I’d get to attend a Christian university, but my dream never unfolded for one reason or another. Heartbroken, I let go of my dream when it seemed unreachable. As life passed, I did the normal things that most people do: attend community college, get a job, marry, and have children; but my heavenly Father never forgot the deeper desire of my heart. I trusted the Lord and knew He had a plan for me, but I had gotten on with life. Then after more than twenty years of forgetting about my earnest prayer, I saw God orchestrate the events that led me to achieve my degree at the very same university I had yearned to attend as a teen!

God never ceases to amaze His people, and He blesses His people for trusting Him. Hezekiah followed God’s commandments, and God took notice of his devotion and trust by giving him success in all his endeavors.

In today’s culture, people expect instant gratification for good behavior and doing the right thing, but trusting God takes willpower and endurance. Having confidence that God will be there through thick and thin ensures triumph whether any rewards are received in this life or not. Trusting in God leads to eternal life with Him and that’s worth the wait.

Invest full trust in God for He blesses His children.
