International Conference launches new Wesleyan region

Under the theme “One Church, Many Nations, One Message,” nearly 150 delegates, spouses, church leaders, associate members, and special guests attended The Wesleyan Church’s International Conference in Panama City, Panama, January 27-29, 2012. Fifty countries were represented.

Jay Hein, former director of the White House Office of Faith-based & Community Initiatives, talked of his two years (2006-08) spent under the leadership of President George W. Bush.
Passing the leadership baton

The recent passing of two district leaders and the widow of another speaks to the passing of the leadership baton to next generation leaders in The Wesleyan Church. J.W. Phillips, Ager Lee Vanderburg, and Ulalia Gentry are the most recent in an increasingly long list of those who have shaped the Church and have now entered into their eternal reward.
Wright second "Mister" to be inducted at SWU

Tyson Wright, an elementary education major from Greer, South Carolina, was inducted into the “Call Me Mister” program during a ceremony Jan. 30 at Freedom’s Hill Church on the campus of Southern Wesleyan University in Central.
Finance director new CFO for Church of God

Connie Fisher, former director of finance and building operations at The Wesleyan Church, is the new chief financial officer for the Church of God Ministries in Anderson, Indiana. After serving eight years in the General Treasurer’s office at The Wesleyan Church World Headquarters, Connie began her work at the Church of God Ministries headquarters on January 23.
Songwriting competition deadline nears

The March 1 deadline for submitting a song for the General Conference 2012 songwriting competition is getting closer. Numerous entries have already been received and will be sent to the competition judges.
Kingswood student develops heart for Natives

Matt Knight is a college student who holds a passion for ministry to Natives.
The Vermont native studies church planting at Kingswood University (formerly Bethany Bible College) in Sussex, New Brunswick, Canada. In 2008, he began working with missionaries affiliated with Northern Canada Evangelical Mission after an unexpected meeting in Sussex.

OKWU professors rated top in nation

For the second consecutive year, professors at Oklahoma Wesleyan University (OKWU) have been named the best in the nation. CBS MoneyWatch reported the news, which is part of Forbes magazine’s annual college rankings.
Forbes magazine uses evaluations compiled from 650 schools by The Center for College Affordability and Productivity in determining the best professors.
