Renew a steadfast spirit within me. (Ps. 51:10)
A FRIEND OF MINE works with horses. He says for a horse to be tamed, it needs to have been physically touched by its caregiver within the first thirty minutes of life. The horse will be wild and think it rules its own life if a human being is not around to touch it soon after birth. Similarly, we need to acknowledge God’s presence every day in order to live lives that are pleasing to Him. If His power is absent from our hearts and minds, we will soon go on our own and try to rule our own lives.
Does your spirit need to be renewed by God’s presence today? If so, ask Him to fill you completely with His love, joy, and peace. Thank Him that He is always near, strengthening and sustaining you. Then go tell someone about the loving and merciful God you serve!
