Rev. Johanna Chacon Rugh has joined the Education and Clergy Development (ECD) team as associate director of Spanish Ministry Education and Formation (SMEF). Rugh, an ordained minister of The Wesleyan Church and an M.Div. graduate of Wesley Seminary at Indiana Wesleyan University, serves as assistant to the district superintendent of the Distrito Hispano del Suroeste. Ministry colleagues report Rugh has creatively and effectively advanced the work of the District Board of Ministerial Development (DBMD) and effectively supported district churches and pastors.

Rugh also serves on the board of Wesley Seminary and as associate chair of DBMD and Professional Formation for the national SMEF leadership team.

“Rugh’s leadership experience and ongoing engagement with the district, Wesley Seminary and SMEF, combined with her exceptional gifts and passion to serve God through ministerial education and formation, makes her the perfect person to advance the kingdom work of equipping Wesleyan clergy,” said Dr. Russ Gunsalus, executive director of ECD.

Originally from Costa Rica, Rugh and her husband, Robert, live in Azusa, California. They have two children, Naomi and Joseph.
