Starting this fall, Southern Wesleyan University will offer a degree program with a focus on leadership practices for current and aspiring leaders in a variety of organizations.

The Master of Science in management and leadership (MSML) degree program will be offered both online and onsite at Southern Wesleyan’s Central, S.C., campus and learning centers across South Carolina. The MSML can be earned by taking 30 credit hours and can be completed in an average of 16 months.

Unlike a traditional MBA that often includes a broad knowledge from a variety of business disciplines, the MSML covers the necessary subjects for individuals to lead teams and organizations effectively and build alliances from a Christ-centered perspective that is characteristic of all the programs offered by SWU. Lessons and concepts from the classroom can be immediately applied in workplaces and organizations.

“The new Master of Science in management and leadership at SWU provides the academic content and rigor to develop the inspiring and effective leader who can overcome the challenges of a rapidly changing business landscape and succeed with a strong commitment to serve a higher calling and mission in Christ,” said Raul Chavez, associate dean of Southern Wesleyan’s School of Business. Chavez added that students completing the program will also complete their own unique leadership portfolio.

MSML students will gain skills in strategic planning, organizational development, information management, and effective decision-making. They will also participate in management exercises and learn to apply theory to practice in a way that addresses real-world business problems.
